Coffee & Content - How to Use a Clapper Board & How to Perfect Your Ending

Posted by Richard "RB" Botto

Happy Sunday Creative Army!

You have your coffee ready? In true Sunday fashion, we have some boiling hot content coming your way. Drink it in before your Superbowl Sunday festivities.

First up, let's get down to basics. When you are on set, it can get a little hectic and overwhelming if you are unprepared. Everyone has a specific job in order to help the production run smoothly and efficiently. In our next video, Cinematic J covers How to Use a Clapper Board. While this job is typically done by the 2nd AC, it is good for everyone on set to understand how a clapper board is used and what the appropriate industry lingo is.

Next up, let's talk about endings. We talk a lot about how important the first ten pages of your script are - they are executives' first impression of your story. However, don't forget about the importance of your scripts ending. Screenwriter Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine, Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, Toy Story 3, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) put together a comprehensive video covering endings: the good, the bad, and the insanely great. Settle in and learn how to crack the art of an unforgettable ending for your next film.

Shout out to director, screenwriter, and Stage 32 member Brad Helmink for sharing the endings video on the Stage 32 Producers lounge.

Here at Stage 32, we love to share stories and knowledge with our fellow film fans. Know someone who would love this content? Share it with them! Tag them below! You can keep up with all of our content by subscribing to the Stage 32 YouTube.
