Happy Sunday Creative Army!
First of all, congratulations to all of you who have already participated in our monthly Introduce Yourself Weekend! Thousands of connections have been made between entertainment creatives and professionals from every corner of the globe. Whether you are a long-time member, or brand new to Stage 32, take a moment to pop over to the Introduce Yourself Lounge and say hello before the end of the weekend. Now, who is ready for some piping hot content with their Sunday morning dose of caffeine?
First up, the folks over at Indy Mogul have answered an age-old question in the entertainment biz: "What does a producer actually do?". In this comprehensive twenty-minute video, film and music video producer Moses Israel walks you through the pre-production planning involved on the producing side of things. As a frame of reference, they use three scenes from La La Land to produce a fictional short film and cover everything from location scouting, casting, and scheduling.
Next up, a little something for all you editors out there. This Guy Edits sat down with TV editor Josh Beal (House of Cards, Counterpart, Bloodline) to break down what it takes to edit on a major television show. In this video, they use the examples from Counterpart starring J.K. Simmons on Starz. You will learn editing techniques that champion story, how to organize your files, how to work with a director, and more.
