100% Tariffs on Films Produced Outside the U.S ???

Note: I'm not posting this to get people's opinions about Trump, etc. And I don't have any interest, per se, to post political content here on Stage 32. But I am wondering what folks think about this announcement. What are your thoughts? Are such tariffs good, bad, neither, or both for the US movie industry?

PLEASE... keep your comments well mannered even if you don't feel like it. Thanks.

I didn’t even know it was possible to do this :O

Interesting topic…

It just never ends does it.

Frank Van Der Meijden

I hope this ends as soon as possible. The movie industry should be without borders and I think it is (on the long term) stronger when it’s a cooperation between - for instance - US and European filmmakers and producers.

Hi, Tucker Teague. I see Trump's point ("Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood, and many other areas within the U.S.A., are being devastated."), but I'm not sure if he has the authority to institute these tariffs like the article mentions, and I'm not sure the tariffs would make things better.

Congress controls the purse. But they don't seem to be doing anything about it.
