20 years of mixed reviews and some success and some not-so-successful attempts and we have a new take on THE FANTASTIC FOUR with Marvel more squarly in control and needing a hit. I've always loved the FF and will be at the theater opening weekend. What are your thoughts on the trailer? https://variety.com/2025/film/news/fantastic-four-trailer-pedro-pascal-m...

I'm excited for THE FANTASTIC FOUR, Sam Sokolow! I like the trailer. It's a great mix of character & relationships and story. And the trailer doesn't give too much away.

I am not entirely impressed.. I still think Pedro Pascal was a terrible choice for Reed Richards. He looks like a used car salesman in the trailers. The Thing looked okay but the kitchen stuff was dumb. Herbie is just a toy licensing ploy and Sue looked tired. The 60's vibe didn't make sense to me nor did I get the idea they were taking the story seriously. Robert Downey Jr as Dr. Doom is a half court desperation shot and a budget bloater. I'm hoping I'm just tired of having my fingers burnt and the film will be good, but I'm not feeling it right now.

The retro 1960's film style is going to help catapult it to some great Marvel profits. It doesn't have the ugly shiny news video sharp images that all Netflix movies have to abide by now. Author of Filmmaking for Dummies

Sam Sokolow, I feel the same way! As a huge comic book fan, I was SO pleasantly surprised by what I saw in the trailer. It actually got me excited for the movie in a way I wasn’t expecting. The tone, the visuals, the casting—it all feels promising. I wasn't very excited by Pedro's casting when it was announced. Don't get me wrong, I'm obviously a Pedro fan, but I feel like he's becoming a bit over exposed in franchises and I didn't really see him as Reed. The trailer changed that though, I was surprised to find that he didn't bother me at all in the clips that they shared.
I just really, really want them to finally get the Fantastic Four right. This is Marvel’s chance to do justice to these iconic characters, and I’m hopeful they’ll pull it off. I’ll definitely be there opening weekend too!
One of my favorite comic book podcasters broke down his thoughts on the trailer and they reflect mine so much that I have to share it here with everyone: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFvS_g_PesD/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&...
