Diving Headfirst Into Filmmaking – Let’s Talk I’ve spent years building businesses, scaling companies, and making high-stakes decisions from the executive suite. Now? I’m applying that same drive to filmmaking. It’s a whole new world—collaborative, unpredictable, and fueled by creativity in a way that business never was. And I’m hooked. Filmmaking isn’t just about making movies—it’s about building something that lasts, something that sticks in people’s minds long after they’ve seen it. That’s the challenge that excites me. For those who’ve made the leap into film from a completely different industry—what was your biggest wake-up call? What’s the thing no one warns you about until you’re knee-deep in production? Let’s talk. I’m here to learn, connect, and make something unforgettable. #Filmmaking #Storytelling #CreativeProcess #LessonsLearned #Networking

I've mainly been a screenwriter my entire career, but I tried to produce two movies way back. A few things I didn't know about going into it were how much work it takes to produce a movie, the terminology (which made things harder), and the legal and financing sides of the business.

Thanks for the warm welcome and for sharing these resources! I’ll definitely be diving into them.
Filmmaking is a world I’ve been drawn to for a long time, and now that I’m stepping into it, I’m seeing just how much there is to learn—especially on the producing side. It’s one thing to have a vision, but another to navigate the realities of turning that vision into something tangible.
You mentioned some challenges you faced when producing—was there a moment where things really clicked for you? Or something you wish you had known before stepping into that role?
Looking forward to connecting and learning from your experience!

You're welcome, Michael Moss. Things really clicked for me when I learned about producing and the legal side of the business. I realized years later that I should've tried to make a micro-budget feature film instead of a big-budget movie and a low-budget movie. It would've been a lot easier to make a micro-budget film.
