For those who haven't seen Maurice in the lounges (which means you're new or not in the lounges - and we're so excited you're here!), Maurice might be our most engaged Stage 32 community member, and is a pro at how to use the platform to improve your craft and get ahead! -- Question for Maurice: What do you think is the FIRST most ESSENTIAL thing that new members of S32 should do when they join?

Maurice! You're such a great part of the community! Thank you. What have you been watching recently that makes you feel good?

Thanks, Emily J! :D The first, most essential thing members should do when they join is set up their profile (www.stage32.com/blog/navigating-stage-32-for-your-best-experience-3095). A detailed profile will help members build relationships/network on here.

Thank you, Niki H! :) I've been watching "The Office" and people's short films. They make me feel good. And anything by Jim Carrey. What about you?

HI Maurice. Thanks for everything you do here. I thought I might be writing a horror (my first) in a project I just finished, but in the end it is more suspense I would say. I was really inspired for some reason to write either a horror or suspense story where the entity doing the haunting turned out to be the light or what you would expect in a protagonist, and the person being haunted was the one plagued with darkness. The ghost ends up helping to transform the broken protagonist and get his family back together. I just finished it this past week. It went somewhere the night I finished it. And I enjoyed A Man Called Otto for a film that made me feel good. Thanks again and take care!
Thanks, Rebecca Ann Bentley. Your comment means a lot. :)
You're busy! :D I love when I have big moments where I discover how to make things better. Sometimes I need to step away from a script to have one of those moments.
I'm finishing up a pitch deck job and pitching projects. I finished a zombie short script yesterday. It's called "Zompton" (zombies in Compton).
You're welcome, Tracy David Sim. I appreciate that.
Your script sounds unique! I like the twist! Congratulations on finishing the script! Are you waiting to pitch it?
"A Man Called Otto" is on my watchlist. Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors. "Cast Away" is my favorite movie he played in.

Hi Maurice, I always enjoy your comments and your engagement on here. You were the first to make me feel welcome when I joined. I'm still figuring this platform out - it's quite the rabbit hole, isn't it? You can lose a whole day going through all of the comments and sifting through webinars to watch and people to pitch to.

Thanks Maurice. I will probably rest for the weekend and think about it. I might be open to pitching it next week or soon anyway. I'm not always cold enough to pitch multiple sources if it's being read, and I get that it's totally fine to do it. The energy around it feels somewhat positive, so why not pitch it. Do you like to sit on new projects, or just get it out there?

Glad I was the first to make you feel welcome, Maureen. :) There is a lot to see and do on Stage 32. The links at the top ("Home," "Profile," "Browse," etc.) will help you/everyone navigate the platform though.

You're welcome, Tracy. When I finish a project, I want to pitch it right away, but I've found it's helpful to sit on my projects before pitching them. Hope the pitch goes great!

I get that totally! I think the same. Thanks! Luck to you and your projects too.

Maurice Vaughan nice to make your virtual acquaintance. I'm working on a drama/dark comedy currently.

American or British? (Office) I always make sure to watch Ghosts (American) and Abbott Elementary when new episodes come out. They always make me laugh and smile.

Maurice, you're just such a legend. Love the energy you bring to this site!
You're welcome, Tracy David Sim. Thanks and best to you on your projects!
Do you write Drama/Dark Comedy a lot, Jan? I've tried to write Dark Comedy, but I can't get the hang of it?
The American version of "The Office," Niki. "Abbott Elementary" is my favorite new show. It's so funny when the actors look into the camera. On "The Office" too.
Thanks, Debbie! That's cool coming from someone who worked in hockey. :)

Maurice Vaughan I don't write them intentionally, they just tend to go that way, from what I am told by others who read the logline or the script. When I'm writing Sci/Fi or Horror they stay in those genres.

I've had that happen before, Jan ("I don't write them intentionally, they just tend to go that way"). Sometimes the story just takes the lead. :) How's your Drama/Dark Comedy script coming?
