William Joseph Hill love it, William. What are you working in at the moment?

It's funny, I read this quote and in one breath I think of how tight and well realized some of King's books are and, in another, I think of how some meander. This makes me like William Joseph Hill's c...

Bad Reviews.

As the title suggests, how do you react to harsh and negative reviews of a book, a playwright or even a spec script?

I won't lie. I stumbled across, by accident, a review of my first history book that was published last Spring. Safe to say that the reviewer - an expert on the matter - didn't mince hi...

It definitely hurts to get a bad review, even if you have "thick skin". I just try to refocus and remember that more people enjoy my work than not. If the negative review has a good point, I'll try to use that for the future. I know that not everyone is going to like my work.

Novel POV?

As my querying journey for my fantasy trilogy continues, I've actually not received much in the way of personal feedback. But I did recently receive one note that said third-person omniscient narrator is a dated writing style that isn't very common anymore. I admittedly tend to read older literature...

@Terrence I agree with most answers above. If the point of view of a character “serves” the story best it works. There can be no fashion police in writing, all stories are infinite in variety with no right or wrong way.

Robin Gregory''s comment is a master-class-in-brief. I can only add "Amen.'"

William Joseph Hill

I concur with the comments here. Robin Gregory gives a nice detailed answer. In my own experience, it depends on how best to tell the story. Sometimes a first person perspective can be a nice change,...

So, I"ve been working on a novel for the last...i dunno, century? Anyway, I've come to the idea that this needs to be a graphic story - a webcomic or graphic novel - and I have NO IDEA how to even begin talking to an artist about this. Sorry if this isn't the appropriate place for this but ya'll were the first bunch I thought of.

I wouldn't go AI, Frank Geier. You're likely to garner a reputation out of the gate for this release and there's a stigma about AI right now even if there is no harm concerning certain aspects of it....

Yes, Frank Geier , I agree with Leonardo -- anyone in your network who is an artist can be helpful. Free alternatives would be doing it yourself, but there's a large learning curve. If you can't draw,...

Querying is a struggle for reasons I didn't expect.

As I've previously posted, I recently started querying my fantasy novel trilogy. Or the first book in the series anyway. Honestly, it has been a mostly positive experience for me so far. I have gotten 3 rejections of the 20 I've submitted so far, but that has not gotten me down. In general, I have f...

That's what I did, and I've published three books so far. However, I still need to focus on advertising and other promotional efforts. My next step is to open a distribution service for independent publishers.
