Established franchises and well-known stories are big money makers, but so can indie films and new stories. I've been hearing from movie fans that they want fresh stories. I do too.
"Average Production Cost: The average movie costs around USD 100 million to produce, including marketing and distribution expenses." That seems really high. I wonder if that includes micro-budget movies.
