More bullishness on the indiefilm front. The momentum continues to roll.
CAA’s Media Finance Co-Head Roeg Sutherland gave an upbeat assessment of the state of the indie movie sector as the European Film Market kicked into gear on Friday.
“We’ve showed up with about 20 [projects] and we’ll walk away with 20 movies that are going to go into production and some relatively sizeable deals,” said Sutherland.

Good to hear from the lion's mouth. Upbeat international pre-sales would be a blessing for 2025 for sure!

Thanks for sharing, Richard "RB" Botto. I'm glad to hear it! Roeg Sutherland said in the article, "People are actually coming back out to watch adult dramas." That's great because Drama/Adult Drama is one of the cheaper genres for indie filmmakers to make.

I hear that, Jack Binder. Seems to be a growing confidence with just about everyone I speak with - minus the prerequisite cynic or two - that this is the trend.

I've known Roeg for years, Maurice Vaughan, and I can tell you this...he's zero bullshit. As straight a shooter as they come in this industry. As for dramas, you may remember me posting after Cannes this year that there were some buys in that genre. That's only carried.
