As we continue to see the independent film market, energy and access to capital increase around the world, The Spirit Awards take on a greater meaning IMHO. These are films breaking through the noise of sequels and delivering the deeply human and artistic experience that so many crave - and it's only growing. On the film side, I've seen I Saw the TV Glow, The Substance, and Cuckoo, Sam Sokolow. They all deserve nominations. Some of the other films are on my watch list. I've been watching more and more indie feature films. I signed up for Mubi. It has a lot of indie films!

I'm not surprised to see Shogun leading the series noms considering they swept the Emmys this year. It's exciting and well-deserved!
