It Starts With A Script

I remember when I got the script of THE FIRST from screenwriter/film director Susan Ruth. Had to read each scene thoroughly, to get an idea of how many scenes I would need to illustrate as storyboards. One thing I learned about working in the film industry, that before the boards are drawn, it starts with an idea, a plot, a story, a script. Once the words are written/typed on a page, the next step are the visuals.

For these boards, after reading the script, had to think visually. Make sure to utilize a variety of angle shots as each scene transitions from one to the other. Here are three examples of my own boards for THE FIRST. Main character enters a room. Close up to an over the shoulder medium shot to a low angle long shot. The script will give you the feeling of how the scenes should be illustrated. Before a single scene is shot, before the boards are illustrated, it starts with the script.
