Learn how to use Chat GPT as your Writing Assitant from one of the entertainment industry’s most sought-after experts in A.I. Guiding you on this new understanding of AI is award-winning screenwriter and director Joshua Young. Joshua is also an AI expert for the Film and TV industry who believes in the power of AI to enhance, not replace, creative efforts.
In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving creative industry, scriptwriters face the challenge of staying innovative while streamlining their development processes. This class addresses this critical need by introducing participants to advanced AI tools that act as creative and writing assistants. By leveraging ChatGPT, you will learn to enhance your ideas, develop compelling characters, and create structured outlines with greater efficiency.
In the competitive world of scriptwriting, a significant challenge is the misconception that AI tools like ChatGPT will take over the creative process, leading to concerns about the authenticity and originality of the work. This misunderstanding can cause writers to overlook the immense benefits these tools offer as creative and writing assistants. Instead of replacing the creative process, AI enhances and supports it by providing a review of the writer's material, helping to develop well-rounded characters by essentially becoming an advanced Google search engine, and streamlining the outlining stage. Learning to use AI effectively allows you to overcome creative blocks and inefficiencies, ensuring your scripts are both unique and polished. By embracing AI as a supportive tool, you can unlock new levels of creativity and innovation, making this knowledge essential for success in the ever-evolving scriptwriting industry.

Me too. I've been delving into chat GPT for all sorts of things and am curious as to how to use it to help with my screenwriting. Also looking forward to seeing his process.
Hi, Martin! Lovely to hear you've been delving in, excited to have you in the class!

Glad to hear that Martin! Think of that moment in the movie, 'The Matrix,' when Neo discovers he is "The One." That's what using AI tools will be like lol. It frees you up so you can focus more on your creative, unique voice!

This won't be in this class specifically, but thought I'd share. I finished a conference for video editors and AI, hosted by AVID Media Composer, which has blown my mind. As an AI Consultant for the film industry, I have to be "in the know," about how AI affects all things filmmaking. You wouldn't believe the breakthroughs that are coming. Imagine searching for files, not just by file name, but by "meaning." For example if you have a hundred photos and videos for your project and you need to know what ones have water in it, you can search 'water' and AI will figure out which ones have water in it. When functions like that come to mainstream computers, it's going to be a crazy world! Imagine never having to remember a file name, but writing something like, "I had a conversation with my boss who said something about something in November? What was that?"
Tomorrow's the day! I'm excited! I hope you all are. As a little teaser, here are two slides from my massive presentation. You will also receive my presentation in the end as a handout. So all the tools will be at your fingertips.
And here's one more. It's not the complete history of technological breakthroughs in Hollywood, but a good snapshot.
