Is there a reason for? A means to the end? A justification for what I do, or am I just keeping myself busy writing? These are some of the things that have been running through my mind lately. Apart from passion for writing, which I have, I would love to see my work account for something. A message sent, a story enjoyed or laughter where it's needed. Has it become something I just enjoy doing that will never grow, mature, leave home or go out on its own. Is it destined to remain as a document on my computer and USB device never to be seen or heard.

Angel Luis Martinez Jr., I can only say that I certainly hope that you find the public that you want. I feel a passion for my music and stories that I definitely want the world to see and hear. I am new to the game, but the passion is there. I wish you every success.

My father and I have been writing, books and music for a very, very long time. I have come to realize, although I knew, it was just a matter of believing that unless I have a name, or know someone with a well know name or, more importantly money, because then everyone will come and listen, then no matter what I produce, it will just collect dust. How do I know this, multiple books on amazon and other markets, music on Spotify, you tube and other streams. The score my friend Life 100, me 0. I lost. Game over! I wish you the best, and I hope your experiences differ from mine. Hopefully, what I am feeling is temporary and I continue to fight, but I do not want to die fighting like my father.

I have been fighting all my life. I had no choice. Fighting for myself and for others. I survived mental, physical and sexual abuse. I survived years of death threats. I twice saw people shot in front of me. I was robbed at gunpoint. I keep on keeping on though life has never been perfect.

Angel Luis Martinez Jr. No one is against you, no one is stopping you, no one is blocking you. Media, publishing, books, etc. are a BUSINESS. You will have a measure of success if you treat it as such. And you will have to keep at it. And the better you get at that, the better results you will have. If you simply write and put it on Amazon, who is going to find it? There are literally a million people who do that in America alone. You have to promote it and figure out who your own audience is, and how to reach them. There's power in that - it's up to you and should be part of your journey which is wonderful. Gone are the days when a publisher or producer will take your creative work and make it happen for you.

Angel Luis Martinez Jr. YOU have to MAKE IT HAPPEN! You've got to GO TO THE BUSINESS! IT"S NOT GOING TO COME TO YOU! You have to GET MORE PROACTIVE! Go to A Film Festival and meet a talented young Filmmaker. Write a Short for them - A GREAT ONE! (I got my start Writing and Directing a Short that Qualified For The Oscars.) Get involved in raising the capital. Aim to get it in 20 Festivals. Keep working on Feature scripts! Start co-raising the funds for an Indie Feature to be shot within a few years! Go to Networking Events! Keep Meeting People. Make Contacts and Build Relationships! GET MORE PROACTIVE!! AND, DON'T come up with the reasons you can't do these things such as: "There are no Festivals by me!" "How do I raise money? I can't afford it!" "Where do I meet other Filmmakers?" With the advent of the internet AND the Prominence of Film Festivals ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY, not to mention that Actors are open to microbudget indies these days, there are opportunities to GET MORE PROACTIVE!
