I have a question for anyone that can advise from their personal experience or conventional wisdom and that is: " Is it better to secure a literary agent before trying to peddle/promote your script......OR do you just continue to Pitch to producers and/or industry execs. regardless of having any scriptwriter representation?......My reason for asking is that often, producers are not going to touch any unsolicited scripts. Which brings me to the next question, which is: " If a producer or studio exec. is interested in your script and wants to take it up....then do they ( the producer/exec.) then steer you over to an Agent so that everything is above board and follows the normal legal and solicited process's??
If my question comes across your radar Maurice, then perhaps you might be a good person to answer my query, seeing as you have been incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in providing me some guidance in the past.
That said, I would welcome anyone's input and opinions on this as it will serve me well in going forward with my speculative.
Kind regards
Chas

I had a manager way back, Charles Chas Green. It helped, but I've had more success pitching scripts myself.
Some producers will request an unsolicited script. It depends on the concept, query letter/call, and networking.
In my experience and from what I've heard, a producer or studio exec who's interested in a script will request it, maybe request a meeting(s), and option or buy it.

Maurice Vaughan, that’s great. How do usually go about pitching? Just curious. Thanks

Hey, Don Zorbas. I mainly pitch by sending email query letters and posting pages of my scripts in Stage 32's Your Stage Lounge, on Twitter/X, and on Instagram, like First Page Friday, Third Page Thursday, and Sneak Peek Sunday. I post loglines and script posters with the pages. And sometimes I post short pitches (like two-word pitches and three-word pitches) on social media.

Anywhere and Everywhere Maurice Vaughan I attended a film festival and everyone is asking if my film was in the fest I was attending! What a chance to pitch them as I take their card or they tell what they have been working on lately.
