The lives of a retired military man, a striving artist, and his citified girlfriend of many years are disrupted when a distant meltdown causes forced migrants fleeing nuclear fallout to overrun their small mountain village and they take the lead in organizing a community response.
SYNOPSIS:
It is said that after a nuclear event, if one can walk away, one will live. It Takes a Village is the story of how in escaping nuclear fallout from a meltdown, an onslaught of forced migrants overrun a village where two star-crossed lovers and a retired military man lead area residents to provide these Newcomers with necessary deconning, food, housing, and medical care.
Just as a striving mountain village artist is about to achieve the success necessary to form a basis for marriage with his citified, longtime girlfriend, they and the artist’s good friend, a retired military man, must interrupt their lives in order to respond to the onslaught of forced migrants.
Thaw’s city planner girlfriend, Natalie, and Lem, a retired veteran and his veteran artist friend, Thaw, all understand aspects of what needs to be done to feed, clothe, house, and medically care for the forced migrants fleeing nuclear fallout as they overrun their small mountainside village. As such, the three take on necessary leadership roles in creating the village’s response.
Oddly, star-crossed lovers Natalie and Thaw, previously apparently destined to never really unite, find that in responding to the needs of forced migrants their differences resolve.
A heartwarming story of families and community working together to survive the effects of a nuclear meltdown.
