SYNOPSIS:

DEATH SEQUENCE

The story begins with Shiva, whose youth is destroyed by tragedy. As a young man, he suffers the loss of his sister, prompting him to execute a cold, calculated act of vengeance against the man he holds responsible—a crime so precise the victim is simply reported as a "disappearance."

This transgression establishes his fate: Young or not, Shiva must kill on whom his shadow falls. Fleeing guilt, he takes refuge with the kind Michael and his daughter, Anne. Anne's genuine love offers Shiva redemption, but his damaged soul is drawn to the manipulative Lily.

Shiva thinks he is compounding his guilt. In a frantic attempt to cleanse himself, he violently rejects Lily, but the damage is done. Unable to live with his remorse, Shiva flees again, joining the army.

And when a nation calls him he shall rise to kill. Shiva proves to be an effective soldier, but the shadow of his first victim haunts him, driving him toward fear psychosis and delusion. He desperately returns to the site of his crime, exhumes the remains, and scatters them in the holy Ganges, seeking a fragile, temporary absolution.

Soon after, the Indo-Pak War begins. Shiva fights with the same cold precision until a disastrous setback leads to his capture. And when destiny lets its shadow fall on him, he falls. He is brutally tortured and left to die in a swamp.

Fate intervenes: Addul Khalam, a Pakistani soldier, sees a reflection of "his son" in the dying Indian officer. The enemy shall save him. Khalam risks his life, enduring torture himself, to bring Shiva to an Indian camp.

The war ends.

Shiva awakens in a hospital to find both his legs amputated. His "fall" is complete. Rejected by Lily and unable to find Anne, he is a ghost in a wheelchair, opening the Varera Service Station in Michael's name.

Shiva with grat difficulty brings Khalam from Peshawar. Now his only anchor is Khalam, his savior and now his sole companion—a profound testament to Khalam's loyalty, for his shadow will fall on him.

When Shiva sees Lily with another man, the suppressed violence ignites. He attacks her wedding procession, leaving a trail of blood and fire.

But Lily survives, transforming into a vengeful force. Shiva finds and reunites with Anne, his last hope for light, and they return to the service station. But Lily, the half-burnt tigress, is waiting.

She ambushes the "glass chamber," destroying Anne—the final piece of Shiva's kin. Driven utterly insane by loss and guilt, Shiva’s life becomes a brutal war against his own reflections and shadows.

And in a December morning he is found dead by his own hand, slumped in his wheelchair, while the beaten, unconscious Khalam lies holding “his legs”, their destinies intertwined in a final, tragic tableau. They end their shadows in glass walls.
