A brutal Roman centurion hunts a hidden treasury for the Emperor, but a corrupt general, an enemy spy, and his own buried guilt stand in the way.
SYNOPSIS:
First Spear is a historical drama set in the Roman Empire during the reign of Emperor Trajan around 104 CE. It explores themes of duty, power, and survival in the unforgiving Roman world, where the price of loyalty is often paid in blood. Things aren’t looking good for the Roman Empire; EMPEROR TRAJAN’s grand ambitions are outpacing Rome’s dwindling coffers. To keep his empire afloat and secure his legacy, Trajan secretly calls on VICTOR LIGUSTUS, a tough-as-nails centurion known equally for his battlefield successes and his ruthless discipline. Victor’s mission? Sneak into enemy territory and recover the hidden Dacian treasury. Simple enough, except it's a dangerous mission fraught with peril and messy politics. Right from the start, Victor's got more than enemy soldiers to worry about. GENERAL FALCO, a vain and power-hungry commander, still holds a nasty grudge against Victor over the death of his nephew, a tribune whose demise Victor had a hand in. Now Falco’s out for blood, complicating Victor’s task even further. And if that wasn’t enough trouble, Victor crosses paths with BICILIA, a smart and captivating Dacian spy who’s playing her own high-stakes game. Victor, unaware of her true identity, finds himself dangerously drawn to her, landing him deeper into a tangled web of deception and intrigue. Meanwhile, within Victor’s own elite squad, tensions flare. His harsh tactics and demanding leadership style spark resentment, especially from COTTA ORANIUS, a seasoned soldier who openly challenges Victor’s ruthless ways. The mounting distrust threatens to tear the team apart from the inside, making the mission even more treacherous. As Victor grapples with both external dangers and internal divisions, he's increasingly haunted by visions of the soldiers he's lost, pushing him to the brink.
With everything on the line, Victor must balance loyalty to Trajan, survival, and his own slipping sanity. Ultimately, he's forced to confront the brutal consequences of his decisions and figure out exactly what he's fighting for.
