Wow, I just found out I made the 2025 Page Turner Awards Short List (Final 15). I know I post a lot of stuff that might come off as cocky, but most of the time it’s tongue in cheek and I’m just having a good time. If I don’t toot my own horn, who else will? Honestly, I’m surprised to have made it this far. In screenwriting, as they say, you have to kill your darlings. The version of the script in this competition does have a few scenes in the first act that, despite being undeniably brilliant, genius, and life-changing (as if written by God himself), don’t necessarily propel the main narrative. You’re only allowed to get away with that when you’re someone like Paul Thomas Anderson or any filmmaker in that rare air. At my level, you have to be perfect or you get discarded like trash. Sometimes the difference between moving ahead or not comes down to who has the fewest commas out of place. That puts me at a disadvantage since my grasp of grammar peaked in seventh grade. I’m grateful to have reached this point. Magic Bullet is by far the strongest and most topical thing I’ve ever written. Regardless, it’s been a fun ride so far. #screenwriting #pageturnerawards #MagicBullet #writingcommunity #filmmaking #specscript https://pageturnerawards.com/2025-award-results/2025-screenplay-award-shortlist
