In the bustling streets of Mumbai, an Indo-Canadian business tycoon must battle a corrupt politician and his supporting gangsters to implement his social development programs and win the love of his dream girl.

SYNOPSIS:

HAROON MALHOTRA, 26, is the son of a wealthy Afghan-Hindu businessman who rebuilt his life in Toronto, Canada, after escaping the Taliban regime. His father, MADAN MALHOTRA, hopes Haroon will inherit and manage their booming Toyota dealership. But Haroon chooses his own path — pursuing a Ph.D. in English Literature at the University of Toronto while nurturing a deep passion for music.

Haroon becomes close friends with SOORAJ, 27, an ambitious Indian law student in Toronto. When the Indian Students Association invites Haroon to perform at their graduation party, he delivers a hauntingly beautiful song:

Kaisa yeh pyaar mera dil mein hai. Ke meri zindagi mushkil mein hai. Bhaag jaati tu/woh mere yaadon se. Phir bhi dil koshish-e-batil mein hai.

Back home, his father mocks his artistic ambitions.

MALHOTRA: Music aur literature padhne ka kya faayda? Aaj kal ke singers toh gaane ke beech baatein karte hain — sab bakwaas lagta hai! HAROON: Woh RAP hai, Dad. MALHOTRA: RAP nahi — music ke chehre pe SLAP hai. Sur aur taal ke beech TRAP hai. HAROON: Come on, Dad. Aapki soch textbook 'generation gap' hai.

A few months later, Sooraj invites Haroon to Mumbai for his wedding. Eager to visit India — and secretly hoping for romance — Haroon arrives at the opulent Taj Hotel and posts an unusual ad in a local newspaper:

"The son of an Afghan landlord seeks a medical interpreter for $100/day."

Enter NAZNEEN, a medical resident at Bombay Hospital. The daughter of a late Indian diplomat, she was raised and educated in Tehran and Kabul, and is fluent in Farsi. Financially desperate due to her mother’s cancer treatment, she accepts the job. Haroon — disguised as an uneducated Afghan villager — pays her $1,000 in advance, which she uses for her mother’s surgery. Then, she disappears.

But fate intervenes. Nazneen turns out to be the bride’s best friend — Dr. Sunitee, Sooraj’s wife, is her sahile. At the wedding, she is stunned to see Haroon — now elegantly dressed — take the stage and sing:

Aye dost tumhare ye haseen raat mubarak. Sar pe tere ye khushiyon ka barsaat mubarak. Aye jaan-e-tamanna, tujhe meri taraf se. Yeh jashn, yeh shaadi, yeh baraat mubarak.

As guests cheer and demand an encore, he teasingly dedicates a playful song to his "dream girl":

Saari duniya chhod kar, Hindustan mein aagaya. Ek bulbul ke tarah, iss gulsitan mein aagaya. Tu agar mera na hota, hum yeh khud se poochhte, Iss tarah behooda kyun, main iss jahaan mein aagaya.

Smitten, Haroon rents an apartment near Nazneen’s home and begins teaching English and computer literacy to locals. He invests in GOMEZ’s garage, creating jobs for the community.

Meanwhile, Haroon’s growing activities draw the ire of local gangsters led by YOUSUF KHAN — a brilliant former coder and software developer whose promising career was unjustly destroyed by a powerful tech tycoon. In a ruthless move to protect his reputation and prevent his daughter — who genuinely loves Yousuf — from marrying him, the tycoon falsely accuses Yousuf of misconduct and of selling his company’s secrets to rivals. This leads to Yousuf’s blacklisting and the collapse of his future.

Broken and vulnerable, Yousuf becomes easy prey for MALIK and JAGATPAL, who secure his release using a high-profile lawyer. In return, they coerce him into hacking politicians’ emails and eavesdropping on their calls — all to gain political leverage for Jagatpal’s empire and Malik’s ambitions.

When Haroon refuses to pay protection money for his English Language Center, he becomes a target. But rather than backing down, he confronts Yousuf Khan with fearless conviction. Moved by Haroon’s courage and moral clarity, Yousuf chooses redemption — turning his back on crime to serve the very community he once helped oppress.

Enraged by Yousuf’s defection and Haroon’s rising popularity, Jagatpal and Malik plot ruthless revenge, determined to crush the movement before it gains momentum.

Desperate to see Nazneen — now a doctor in the mental ward at Bombay Hospital — Haroon persuades Sooraj to admit him as a patient. In the hospital garden, as Nazneen walks away, Haroon grabs a patient’s guitar and strums, freezing her mid-step. With fearless charm, he sings to her, turning the garden into a musical frenzy as some staff and patients join in.

HAROON: Dekho Nazneen. Iss hospital mein, hum bhi teri bemaar hain. So come and examine me. Take my hand, check my pulse — Kyun ke main jaanta hoon tumhare dil mein bhi mere liye pyaar hai, par hoton pe kyun inkaar hai?

NAZNEEN: Tum jaise pagal se koi pagal hi pyaar karega. Main nahi.

HAROON (singing): Tere baghair aye Nazneen, jeena mera dushwar hai. Is hospital mein dekh lo, hum bhi terey bemar hain. Dil mein tere iqrar hai, hoton pe kyun inkar hai. Mujhko bata aye jaan-e-man, aakhir yeh kaisa pyaar hai?

After surviving an assassination attempt, Haroon’s father sends him a bulletproof Land Cruiser from abroad. Haroon also acquires bulletproof vests and helmets. From that point on, he and Yousuf take strict precautions — always prepared, always watchful. Sooraj, now an established lawyer, stands firmly by Haroon’s side, offering legal protection and strategic counsel as the war for justice intensifies.

In one scene, Malik, the corrupt Muslim MP, is entangled with his mistress on a King-sized bed. Silk sheet. Dim light. His shirt half open. His phone buzzes on the nightstand. He ignores it at first. It buzzes again and again. Finally with a groan, he reaches for it and answers.

JAGATPAL: Kya kar rahe ho, Mr. Malik? Aaj kal hamare phone ka bhi der se jawab dete ho. MALIK: Aap to meri sabse zoordar kamzori se waqif hain, Sir. You know my strongest weakness. JAGATPAL: Aurat sirf tumhari kamzori nahi hai, haramkhor. Tumhari asli kamzori yeh hai ke tum kaam poora nahi karte...

Yousuf discovers that RANJEET, his trusted aide, is secretly working as an informant for Jagatpal and Malik. Instead of punishing him, Yousuf convinces Ranjeet to become a double agent. In return for generous pay and a chance at redemption, Ranjeet agrees.

Using a hidden WiFi camera concealed inside a locket pendant, Ranjeet helps Yousuf capture damning video evidence — Jagatpal executing one of his own men and conspiring against Haroon and Yousuf. The footage streams live to a secret surveillance lab in Yousuf’s underground basement — a turning point in the war for truth.

When Haroon and Yousuf plan to open a small health clinic, gangsters attack its inauguration. But Haroon, Yousuf, Sooraj, Gomez, local residents, and the police repel the assault, saving the center and inspiring the neighbourhood.

In the final showdown, Haroon and Yousuf escort Ranjeet — now a crucial witness — to court in their bulletproof Land Cruiser and a fortified van built by Gomez: an old Volkswagen retrofitted with a TATA engine, Coaster AC, CCTV, internal monitors, and shooting holes.

In court, Ranjeet testifies against Jagatpal. Yousuf submits video evidence against Malik. The judge sentences Jagatpal to death and Malik to life imprisonment.

Witnessing Haroon’s bravery and transformation, Nazneen finally surrenders to love and agrees to marry him. The End.
