About Jolene

I'm an actor/director/producer/writer- In other words, I love telling stories. I founded of Actors Art Enterprises, Inc., a developmental lab (Actors Art Theatre) and film production company (Found Light Flicks), dedicated to the belief that we are not separate from each other and have the capacity to empathize with all people. AAE is committed to the actor’s art through which projects are created that inspire change as well as entertain.

I produced my first Actor’s Equity production in NYC the minute I graduated from college and haven't stopped since. The first play I developed and co-starred in was the long running, multi-award-winning “Adam and Eva Marie” by Michael Solomon for which I won a Drama-Logue Award for Best Actress and Best Production. One of my best creative experiences was producing, developing and directing the Ovation Award nominated hit, “Boiler Room” by Dan Fante at both AAT in LA & The Pantheon in NYC (selected as one of the most notable plays of the year by Don Shirley of the Los Angeles Times). I love developing stories for stage and screen through the use of solo shows. I co-adapted and directed Emmy Award winning comic, Mike Dugan’s “Men Fake Foreplay,” (in production for it’s second US tour) and directed award winning comic, Cathy Ladman’s “Scardeypants” (for HBO Independent Productions).

Storytelling through the craft of acting and improv is very satisfying and productive for me. I played “Renata” in the world premiere of the English version of Ingmar Bergman’s The Devil’s Eye” at the Egyptian Arena Theatre and recently went to Sweden to perform in Bergman’s “Early Ends The Day” at the Bergman Festival. One of my favorite roles was Gretty in “Gretty Goodtime” at Garry Marshall’s Falcon Theatre, directed by Joe Regalbuto.

My film career got started when I was wrangled into being First AD, line producer and caterer on the film, “Helium Head”, starring Dick Cavett for Lighter Than Air Productions. I lost 10 pounds in 3 days! I was Casting Director and First AD for the TV pilot, Bad Example” for The Kelly/Blumetti group, starring Jimmy Pardo and Brande Roderick. I've cast several TV and film projects over the years, including many for Jeno Hodi of CinePartners, the European TV series, “Mystery of Black Rose Castle”, “Metamorphosis”, and “The Bridgeman”.

I co-produced my first film, "2084" in 2009 with The Kelly/Blumetti Entertainment Group & Filigrana Films starring Billy West and Betsy Baker and my second film, “The Shifting” with Robert Romanus in 2010 also with Filigrana Films. I executive produced and directed “RolePlay” a television pilot starring Emmy Award Winning comic, Ed Crasnick and actress Moon Zappa. My screenplay, ”Catching Hell" (1968 Olympic gold medalist Tommie Smith’s story), was optioned by Estrella Productions.

I directed my first feature film, “The Boarder”, for Jane E. Ryan Productions. The film won Audience Award for Best Feature at Bel-Air Film Festival as well as Best Narrative Feature Award at the New York Los Angeles International Film Festival and The Women's Independent Film Festival. I was honored to receive ‘Best Director’ Awards from the New York Los Angeles International Film Festival and Women's Independent Film Festival.

I'm looking forward to shooting, my next TV pilot, "In The Fairy Wood," in the Catskills this summer, my second feature film, "Adam & Eva Maria," co-written with therapist Michael Solomon, this fall, and a TV pilot for the dramatic series, “Inside Out”, based on the book of a well-known neurologist exploring the childhoods of the criminally insane is on the slate for early next year.

Unique traits: I live and work in both Los Angeles and New York where we have a country retreat for writing and rebooting. I love finding my story in the stories of my collaborators, creating meaningful work, finding light in dark places and most of all working with people who can laugh!
