SAG/AFTRA
917-439-9745

Debra Lord Cooke (aka Dee Cooke) began her career professionally during her college years with a series of 9 commercials for a regional dairy company. After receiving a full honors scholarship from the University of Maine at Orono to study her junior year in Canterbury, England, Debra interned at The Marlowe Theatre, studied theater through the British Studies Centre (IAU), and Television & Film Production at Christ Church College.

For a time, Debra branched into casting where she developed her own casting company working with independent films, commercials, and print. Major films also used her services for location casting including MAN WITHOUT A FACE, IN THE BEDROOM, and EMPIRE FALLS. She has also worked as a First Assistant Director on projects including, BABY, IT’S COLD OUTSIDE, shot in Maine and Florida. Debra was a founding member of The Maine Film & Video Association, serving as Treasurer for 3 years, and has held Governors King, Baldacci, and LaPage’s appointed position on the Maine Film Commission Board since 2002, serving as chair for several of those years.

Debra, a member of SAG-AFTRA, recently returned to her passion of acting. Recent credits include THE CONGRESSMAN with Treat Williams, THE UNION, ANALOGUE (lead role), and Academy Award winner, Ernest Thompson’s new feature, TIME AND CHARGES. Current theater credits include AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, THREE VIEWINGS, THE SECRET OF COMEDY, SUGAR BEAN SISTERS, THUMBS, as well as sketch and improv shows.

Debra has 12 years experience as an on-camera commercial/film acting coach through her casting company as well as through The Junior Theatre Group, a community outreach program, at The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, England, The Maine Film Commission, and at schools and colleges as a guest at SMTVI, the University of Maine at Orono, and several high schools.

Currently, Debra splits her time between Maine and New York City. She has co-written the screenplay, ROSES ON THE LAKE, and is now raising funds to produce it, hopefully to shoot in the summer of 2016 in Maine.
