A shy and studios loner
looks to escape his small, Midwestern town by being accepted to a
major college. However, he must survive his loving but dysfunctional
family and the ever-changing times.
SYNOPSIS:
Noah Donovan is a bright
and studious overachiever, yet a shy and isolated young man. He is
experiencing the woes of high school, and the even greater woes of
adolescence.
However, he is not alone in his journey. His family includes his
strong-willed single mother, Myrtle, domineering older brother, Brett,
older sister Linda, also a single mother, younger sister Audrey, a
hopeless romantic, and obese younger brother Corey. The family
struggles to make ends meet, as they also try to acclimate to the
ever-changing times.
Noah's sole refuge is his schoolwork, as he desperately and diligently
tries to attain his dream of a full college scholarship. His
opportunity soon arises, as a science fair organized by his Physics
teacher will enable Noah and his classmates to showcase their knowledge
and talents in front of college officials.
Along the way, Noah soon discovers that he is not the only one going
through changes. Audrey becomes deeply involved in a clandestine love
affair with her best friend, Melanie, and Linda soon becomes ostracized
for being a single mother.
Despite it all, Noah soon finds happiness, when he meets Nicole, a
friend of Brett's. Nicole introduces Noah to a world outside of books,
as the two fall deeply in love. Unbeknownst to Noah is the fact that
Nicole is only dating him to win a wager she made with Brett and her
friends.
Everything soon falls apart, as Noah becomes disenfranchised and soon
rebels against everything/everyone he once held dear. What he doesn't
know is that Brett is about to execute a sinister prank on him, and that
the most devastating secret is the one held by his mother.
The Donovans celebrate the holidays. Yet they will soon encounter
problems that go way beyond cooking dinner and decorating. The truth
will come out, as nothing in the Donovan household will ever be the
same.
