After discovering her roommate is a serial killer, a writing major student becomes the next target and must fight to not become her next victim.
SYNOPSIS:
Writer major student, Sierra, gets her feelings hurt by her English professor. Later in the evening, her roommate, Erin and she attend a frat house. About to have intercourse with one of the frat boys, Sierra storms out, encountering a ghost. she makes her way to the dorm room bathroom, where she gets knocked unconscious. Much later, at the hospital with her sister, Faith, she returns to her dorm but is pleaded with to visit their father.
The next day at a coffee shop, the ghost named Rick, torments her by scaring her and fooling her. Later, Sierra takes a run, tiring herself out to fall asleep in class. The professor awakens her only to give her inspiration with new ideas for her writing. For the rest of the idea, Sierra writes and writes, finding her voice.
In her cooking class, Sierra meets Paul, a teaching assistant, helps her with a cheesecake. Later in the evening, she meets Paul again, talking over a cup of coffee.
Erin, who secretly paid Paul to go out with Sierra, starts to see that it's making her like she's in love. When the truth comes out, Sierra will feel hurt.
Paul and Sierra go out on their first date, taking their relationship to the next level. That night Sierra has a dream about her last chance to see her father.
The next morning, Sierra awakens and overhears Erin talking to Paul about the deal. Erin offers to pay Paul off. This causes Sierra to leave and return home to be with her family.
Her father, Nicholas, who has become a hermit for six years, avoiding her due to losing his wife in a traffic accident. Slowly but surely, Nicholas plays the piano for her. The next day, Nicholas fires off his guns, and allows Sierra to see him. An emotional moment between father and daughter helps them find peace.
After two days away from school, Sierra returns to school, rents an apartment, gets a job as a nurse and has her father move in with her. Finding it in her heart to forgive Erin but has no desire to talk to Paul. At home with her father, about to have dinner, Paul visits Sierra and has dinner with her. Nicholas, who seems to like Paul, approves. The ghost Rick starts to haunt Sierra again, causing Sierra to go and find his missing persons poster. Her former roommate finds her with the poster. This getting Sierra to suspect Erin. Paul, who watches out for Sierra, while she looks in Erin's dorm room. The truth comes to light when Sierra finds remains belonging to Rick.
Making her escape from the dorm room, Erin returns to the dorm room with a frat boy and finds a walkie talkie. Revealing Sierra to be the one to sneak in.
Back in her apartment, Sierra and Paul look around for Nicholas. Not knowing he is at a coffee shop across the street.
Alone in the living room, with Paul unconscious. Erin holds Sierra at knife point. Erin reveals herself to have killed Rick's girlfriend, Rebecca and later Rick after he rejected her. About to strangle Sierra, Nicholas intervenes and throws Erin to her death from the patio.
Back in her English class, Sierra finds her words and becomes a successful writer. Shortly after, Sierra and Paul get married but break the news to Nicholas that they are leaving California. Heartbroken, Nicholas falls and twists his ankle. An even more heartbroken Sierra, who has not left the bed since learning that Nicholas doesn't want to talk to her. Nicholas goes to their hotel and makes up with her. After a while, Nicholas has a stroke, and a grieving, tired Sierra can't take much more. Unable to watch his wife cry, Paul sends Nicholas to a home. Not happy with this, Sierra visits Nicholas and helps him regain his strength.
With Nicholas passing away and her writing career on track, Sierra gives birth to a boy and names him after her late father.
Now older, telling her granddaughter, Starla, that she would do it over again if she could. Visiting a mountain in the North, Starla lays flowers at the top and looks at the purple moon sky.
