Hello there,
My name is Ismail Jan Kara. I am a young Turkish-American screenwriter who studies medicine in Istanbul. I currently have 2 scripts on my hand, ready to sell. 1 Movie Feature and 1 TV Pilot. Chris Mack from Netflix once asked a question: What is your movie really about whwn you remove the plot? At their core, they are both about Family. (NOT Family genre. They are not that Family friendly.)
I have learnt the screenwriting from the very bests like Aaron Sorkin and Shonda Rhimes. I structure my outlines for my features and my TV pilots with using scientific tools that I've learnt from Neil DeGrasse Tyson, such as Bias of Familiarity or Recall by Resemblence. With staying true to my characters, I use special techniques that are still used in WWE to play the audience and subvert/build expectations. They say what's rare is valuable. That's why I use Tarantino-esque ways to provide a switch in classical genres such as Fantasy, War and Drama.
After studying the greats like Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, and the Witcher with notes over 150 pages, I have a sweet spot for fantasy genre. Though I still believe, even in fantsay genre, that a good movie should have the emotional beats like a Drama. After seeing GoT is at its peak when its people versus people and watching Vikings, I have a more realistic approach to fantasy. As an alternative history even, though still providing an escape to new adventures in a mesmerizing world. With using in-action storytelling and creating situations with high stakes and heavy consequences, I find a new way to write breathe-taking fight scenes, even duels. Duels that may even serve as dream matches to fandoms with correct casting. Growing up with the promos of Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson, I have a very deep understanding of writing exciting monologues and on screen chemistry.
With House of the Dragon, LOTRonPrime, Vikings: Valhalla, the Wheel of Time and the Witcher as contenders for Game of Thrones' crown, we will soon witness a Streaming Wars for the ages. And I intend to be a part of that. One way or another.
