SYNOPSIS:
The African savannah. Lion (father) explains the pyramid of life to his cubs Jumal and Jumess — their place in the food chain. Jumal then has a disturbing dream about an antelope baby, orphaned by predation. He wonders — why can't lions be vegetarians? Lion explains the biology of the matter, but Jumal is undaunted. He tries eating plants...and falls ill. Dr. Gorilla provides a cure. Jumal then wonders: could that cure be the key to turning them into herbivores? Lion calls a council of carnivores and floats the suggestion. It is his intention to make it happen. The big cats go along, and the vote is carried by a majority. But the canine faction — led by Hyena — doesn't want it to happen. They decide to use ingenuity and tactics to undermine the big cats' authority. They encourage Monkey to spread rumors, and the rumors work. Lion convenes the herbivores and discusses the matter. Elephant is on board, but other more vulnerable herbivores are distrustful, and the caucus fails. Meanwhile, Gorilla discovers that key to turning them into herbivores: aloe vera! Lion overhears the canines' plotting and orders them to dispel their rumors within 2 days. Monkey visits Gorilla to redeem his tarnished image — he knows of an aloe vera farm, and will tell where if he receives some territory of his own to rule. Gorilla rebuffs him. After 2 days, the canines have not dispelled the rumor. Instead, they try and confuse Lion's kids, and Gorilla himself. Gorilla will not be swayed. But he tells them that without a steady supply of aloe vera, the plan will fail — and the canines take that to heart. Gorilla gives the aloe vera to the carnivores. They must find and eat aloe vera for a week, and abstain from flesh. This will weaken them temporarily. The canines decide to wait until the cats are weak to start a rebellion! At wit's end, Lion visits Monkey and grants his request. Monkey reveals the location, and withdraws his request out of respect. Lion dispatches Owl to scout the location — but it's very far, and Owl is nearly shot by humans. This puts the lions in a quandary...they could not make it to the aloe vera without great hardship. What to do? That night, Lion has a dream. A Lion of Fire tells him that in the future, all will be vegetarian and live in peace and harmony. The next day Lion calls all the carnivores and herbivores together. Suddenly, the Lion of Fire appears to all and repeats the promise of the dream — then all the animals sight the same dream and are supernaturally allowed to have a feel of that very future! They finally return to reality and accept the status quo. A happy ending for all!
