If I only live long enough to complete one big goal as a filmmaker, it will be to write/direct a new live action adaptation of Avatar The Last Airbender, and do it RIGHT.
I've been training to become a great all-rounder in terms of skills applicable to making films, with a stronger emphasis on techniques of writing and direction.
I studied art and music as a child, acquiring basic skills in those areas that have been useful for making my own storyboards and designing/mixing sound for my films. I've studied and participated in theatre and filmmaking at the university level, which has been beneficial for my writing, direction, and design work; I've also gained the benefit of having a pool of friends who are also into film and theatre. More recently I've been learning motion graphics and digitally enhanced effects to increase my range of storytelling possibilities within my budget.
I believe that having a broad range of applicable skills is necessary to rise to the top in the current climate of competition. I want my writing to be more practical by approaching the challenges of a project from different perspectives.
