Alverne Ball has a M.F.A in Fiction writing from Columbia College Chicago. He has completed studies in Columbia College's prestigious Semester in Los Angeles program, an intensive course focused on the adaptation of material to the screen.
His writing has been published in the literary magazine Annalemma, in Columbia College newspaper The Chronicle, online at , , and online for the Museum of contemporary Photography in Chicago. His short stories of suspense have appeared in the Sin anthology by Avendia Press and Criminal Class Review as well as the online magazine, the heated forest.
Mr. Ball has been working in the comics industry for 10+ years as a writer, consultant, and creator. He's the co-writer of One Nation published by 133art. He's done consulting work for Paramount pictures, De Bona Ventura productions, and a number of independent production houses. He's studied graphic novel storytelling at Columbia College under the tutelage of the great horror writer, Mort Castle and he's taught comic book writing at Chicago's Noble charter high school.
Recently, Mr. Ball received the 2014 & 2015 Glyph award as a rising star for his writing on the One Nation comic book published by . In 2009 Mr. Ball received first place in the Union League Civic & Arts Foundation Creative Writing Competition for his graphic story, "Virgin Wolf." He has also received numerous Weisman Scholarships for his other graphic stories, R-Squared, Geddeon and Zulu.
