Amena is a NY born writer of drama, sci-fi, and comedy whose writing features characters of all walks in life.
Amena holds a Juris Doctorate from ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, with a certification in the specialization of Intellectual Property Law and was selected into the Order of Barristers for exhibiting outstanding trial advocacy in moot court during law school. She also studied film at the University of Southern California’s summer film program during high school, which solidified her interest in pursuing TV & Film, leading her to go to her hometown’s ASU Herberger School of Film, earning a B.A. in Film Studies.
While interning at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014, her short ballet film “Revolution” that she produced, choreographed, and composed the score for premiered at the Marché du Film where she got her first experience pitching to producers. She most recently placed semifinalist in ScreenCraft’s Pilot Launch competition and is a co-winner for Roadmap’s Diversity Initiative for her one-hour drama pilot.
She is also currently developing a sci-fi superhero comic book for young adults as writer and illustrator, which serves as a companion piece to her one-hour sci-fi/thriller pilot. On the side, Amena does art commissions and variant comic book covers, while occasionally music producing. With a background in improv, acting, and music composition, her writing process involves not only world-building and writing the story but also producing the accompanying music and drawing up concept art for each of her stories.
