About Ana

Ana Lydia Monaco is a San Fernando Valley-born Biracial Mexican-American Writer/Director. She recently sold broadcast rights and attained a distribution deal for her Award-Winning film MEETING BROWN and documentary CONVERSATIONS IN COLOR...ISMS. She's in the Film Fest submission process for #LOLASJOURNEY, a BIPOC female-led film about self-love and self-advocacy that was shot during the Covid Hollywood shutdown. She's also currently Writing/Directing a confidential multi-film branded art-focused campaign. Ana Lydia has made her mark in the film industry, working as Script Coordinator on Disney's MULAN, Associate Producer on Guest House, and the Jay Mohr Special. She is also the Writer/Director/Producer of The Smithsonian's "Molina Family Latino Gallery" & Nissan's "California Being" documentary films.
Other films that have tapped Ana Lydia include Friendsgiving, 3022, and Shook. As a writer, she has been staffed on Boston Lyric Opera "Desert In," a groundbreaking operatic, episodic story of love, loss, and redemption. She also worked as a researcher on a confidential Marvel TV show. Ana Lydia holds several degrees. Her first, a Marketing degree from FIDM, catapulted her PR/Marketing career. She produced, wrote, and directed over 300 pieces of branded content, PSA's, and Commercials for the Lifestyle and Fashion space for Fortune 500 companies, including Macy's, Nike, Target, Intelligent Beauty, Disney, and others. A second Film Studies and Design Matters minor degree from Art Center College of Design, where she graduated with honors and various industry recognitions, kicked-off her filmmaking journey. Her scripts have placed in the top 25 at the WIF/Go 90 episodic lab, Finalist at the Oaxaca Film Fest earned her 1st place in the Short Film Writing Awards. Her films have placed in over ten fests. She's currently a Women in Film mentee, founder of #WritersBrunch and #WritersGroup. Ana Lydia is also developing and in pre-production on The Academy (Feature), Whatever it Takes (Feature), and Miami Ghost Story (Feature). She also has several pilots, including El Lay (30 min pilot), Pass (30 min pilot), La Dona (30 min pilot), Queen Bee's Kingdom (30 min animated pilot), and Patsy's Shelter (30 min animated pilot). Married and a furbaby mom, Ana Lydia is bilingual, bicultural, and immersed in the Los Angeles art and food scene.
