Cassiah is a director, award-nominated writer and actor based in London. After graduating with 1st Class Honours BA Drama and Theatre Arts from The University of Birmingham, she began her career working for Gurinder Chadha OBE at Bend It TV who is now developing her original television drama Robyn. Cassiah’s short play Under My Thumb is a finalist for Red’s Women Theatre Award 2016, and has recently been commissioned as a full-length play by Greenwich Theatre and Culture Clash Theatre to be debuted in September 2016. Cassiah is also notably working as Assistant Producer on a feature adaptation of BBC’s Cavegirl, ‘Cavegirl The Movie’ with producer Andy Bell and writer Daniel Peacock, focusing on story development. She was also accepted as a partner writer for the NFTS Script Development Diploma with her feature screenplay The Chef’s Affair. Cassiah has also had her work performed on the stage in London, Birmingham and Glasgow, and is working on a number of projects for commission and in development. She is particularly interested in creating worlds that specifically examine the representation of women from fresh, contemporary and innovative perspectives.
