Celia C. Peters is a filmmaker creating compelling stories featuring authentic diverse characters. She’s a member of New York Women in Film and Television and WGA; she also sits on the board of the Greater Columbus Film Commission (Film Columbus). Peters produced REPRESENT, a panel on characters of color in sci-fi at the 2017 New York Comic Con; she also curated a program of sci-fi short films by Black directors at Afropunk 2017 in NYC. Peters was awarded a 2017 Residency at the Film & Video Studio of the Wexner Center for the Arts for her experimental sci-fi short film MISSION. In 2017, she completed post-production of her short sci-fi thriller Roxë15. In 2015, Peters’ feature-length script for Roxë15 was selected for CultivEight, a feature film development incubator sponsored by the NEA Art Works Program. In 2012, she was a writer-in-residence at Hawthornden International Retreat for Writers in Scotland. Her feature screenplays have been prize-winning and recognized in competition otherwise. Her work has screened in New York, Washington, D.C., Detroit and London. Peters’ work has been broadcast on public and cable television. She created the dramatic reading series “The Next 15 MinutesTM,” and has produced staged readings at Tribeca Film Center and the National Black Theater of Harlem. Peters is an honors graduate of University Michigan with a B.A. in French and Political Science, and holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago. As well, she has done graduate studies in clinical psychology at NYU.
