Echo Nguyen

I love directing stories for the screen. I have four shorts I’m extremely proud of: Heated (2021), Hook Line Sinker (2023), Summa Culpa Laude (2023), and Hemingway (2024). They’re all dark dramas and thrillers, but with capital g great, I’m showcasing my goofy and earnest personality. So, comedy, it is! But that doesn’t change the subject matter: I still have a strong young woman at the forefront who is incredibly misguided and ambitious.

I adore showcasing stories that explore gender, the amorphous beauty of friendship, and familial trauma. Because, well..let’s just say I grew up in an Asian household. Filmmaking is how I communicate who I am to the world and everyone around me. I love guiding the cast and crew who bring the story into their hearts and make it as important to them as it is to me. I moved to LA two years ago, and I’ve been working professionally for TV, film, and commercials ever since.

Since I was a little kid, I have wanted nothing more in the whole wide world than to make stories that will touch your soul, and that’s what I’ve been doing, am doing, and will be doing til I’m gone.
