Resident Stage & Technical Supervisor (Seasonal)

Wonders Theatre – Myrtle Beach, SC

Wonders Theatre is seeking a hands-on Resident Stage & Technical Supervisor for our main performance season. This is a seasonal, salaried W-2 position in a single-venue, resident-show environment with a predictable schedule and consistent performances.

This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys owning the day-to-day technical operation of a live theater and takes pride in maintaining a clean, professional, show-ready space.

Position Details

  • Season: Mid-March through December

  • Employment Type: Seasonal W-2 salaried contract

  • Hours: Approximately 30–40 hours per week

  • Compensation: $850–$950 per week, based on experience

  • Completion Bonus: $2,000 paid at successful end of season

  • Renewal: Opportunity for renewal for future seasons

  • Location: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Responsibilities

  • Operate lighting and sound systems during live performances

  • Perform daily power-up and power-down of lighting and audio rigs

  • Open and close curtains during shows

  • Move props and scenic elements safely and efficiently

  • Clean and maintain the stage and backstage areas

  • Turn the theater efficiently on days with multiple shows, including resetting props and preparing the stage between performances

  • Refill and maintain fog and bubble machines

  • Clean lighting fixtures and maintain technical workspaces

  • Conduct routine checks of lighting, sound, and stage equipment

  • Assist with load-ins, strike, and seasonal changeovers

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional backstage environment

Qualifications

  • Experience with lighting consoles, DMX systems, and basic lighting maintenance

  • Experience operating sound consoles for live performance

  • Comfortable working independently and proactively

  • Organized, reliable, punctual, and professional

  • Willing and able to perform hands-on physical work as part of daily operations

  • Takes pride in cleanliness, organization, and consistency

  • Stays calm under pressure and during quick show turnarounds
