Casting Call – Proof of Concept Trailer

Project Title: The Call of the Owl

We are casting for a proof-of-concept trailer for the feature film The Call of the Owl. This trailer will serve as a visual pitch for a larger production currently in development.

Filming will take place partially in New York and primarily in Puerto Rico. Selected talent will be flown to Puerto Rico, with travel, accommodations, and meals covered in addition to compensation.

Please note: Casting for this proof of concept does not guarantee casting in the final feature film.

Logline

A wildlife photographer obsessed with capturing an elusive Screech Owl vanishes deep within El Yunque rainforest. Four years later, he reappears—unchanged, disoriented, and with no memory of where he’s been. As his girlfriend retraces his steps, she uncovers a chilling link between an ancient legend and his disappearance… while he begins to suspect he didn’t return alone.

Role: Lead Female (27–35)

• Caucasian female
• Character: The photographer’s girlfriend—intelligent, determined, and emotionally grounded
• Physically capable; comfortable working in outdoor environments
• Must be willing to work in natural settings (rainforest terrain, rivers, mud, etc.)
• Enjoys hiking / not afraid of remote forest environments
• Experience in thriller, drama, or horror preferred

We’re looking for someone who can carry emotional depth while navigating suspense and psychological tension.

Production Details

• Estimated shoot: 3–4 consecutive days (weekend schedule likely)
• Locations: New York (initial scenes) + Puerto Rico (main shoot)
• Travel, lodging, and meals provided for Puerto Rico shoot
• Dates: TBD (currently scouting talent)

Additional Note

We are currently building a talent database for this project. This is a great opportunity to collaborate on a visually compelling concept, gain exposure, and work on location in Puerto Rico.

We are also open to connecting with experienced Executive Producers and potential collaborators interested in developing this project further. The production is being structured to take advantage of Puerto Rico’s film tax incentives (up to 55%).
