About Gabby

Gabby Tary, a well trained actress, comedian, writer, artist has played roles from Ferenc Molnar to Neil Simon. Gabby is known for 'Aimy in a Cage' (2014) a feature film directed by Hooroo Jackson, co-stared in 'The Harvest' (2006) and an Emmy nominee for her work behind the scene for a daytime Emmy award winning show 'The American Woman: Portraits of Courage' Gabby also appeared in TV Shows and Commercials, the first Arsenio Hall Show, Gateway Commercial and Fox Sports News, just to name a few.Classically trained, Gabby started her career as a child. She played staring roles as a regular member of the Budapest National Children Theater as well as being a member of Herbert Berghof Theater in New York. Always honing the craft, Gabby also studied stand up comedy at the American Comedy Institute in New York with Stephen Rosenfield, commercial with Mike Pointer and Improv at the Groundling in Los Angeles and presently studying at AIA Actors Studio. She started performing stand up comedy after a psychic told her that that's her calling. She turned her focus to comedy and spent the last twenty years honing the craft.. When performing stand up comedy Gabby's unique perspective on life will make you laugh and think! When ask if she's nervous on stage, her answer: "What can they do to me that has not been done to me before. A few tomatoes never hurt anyone." She finds humor wherever truth is in jeopardy. Gabby has performed as an MC, Featured and Headlined regularly performed in New York at Surf Reality, New York Comedy Club and Comedy Cellar and other clubs around N.Y. and now in L.A. Her experiences growing up during communism have shaped her view on the world and is in her material very often. She lists Lewis Black as a source of inspiration. Gabby recently published "Congratulations, it's a communism!" a political comedy. She produces new media and Live comedy events. She is the owner of Tary , an online art gallery and gift shop. Gabby loves working with Women, frequently volunteering at the Downtown Women Center.
Gabby Tary was born in Hungary and raised in Budapest. Gabby is the daughter of a sectary and a musician father. Gabby immigrated to America at fifteen, after the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Just a teen ager, Gabby was a freedom fighter and fought against communism in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Growing up in Budapest during the communist regime, Gabby has experienced hunger, poverty and brutality. Influencing her art is her intense love for democracy and freedom. Gabby combines her experience as an immigrant with her ability to entertain in order to show people a point view of a Hungarian immigrant.
