Hey All, I'm an LA-based filmmaker currently in post production on my latest feature, a meta-thriller called Bravado that follows a talented but introverted screenwriter who ends up working with a manipulative auteur director in an effort to get her first script produced. Throughout the film, we cut to the movie she’s writing multiple times — a mafia story set in the UK all about an undercover cop who loves the world of crime — seeing it evolve with every note she gets. It's Nightcrawler meets Barton Fink, in short. When all is said and done, it's a movie about screenwriting and the writing process as a whole, one that aims to answer a question I find more and more intriguing every day: Why do writers write? Despite being a narrative film though, throughout the course of the movie we'll be intercutting real world interviews from working writers today, blending documentary and narrative into something wholly original that speaks to the themes we're exploring within the central story. Our goal is to get candid opinions on what it means to be a writer, thoughts on the current state of the entertainment industry, and in-depth answers to the question posed above. At the moment, the production is searching for interested screenwriters willing to participate in the documentary portion of the film. These interviews will be conducted on November 16th in Los Angeles and will run no more than 30 minutes. With setup and hair and makeup, I'd anticipate an hour and half of your time on the day, at most.
