Introduce Yourself : Greetings, Programs by Eric Sparks

Hi everyone. My name is Eric Sparks. I'm a screenwriter, director, and editor. I just recently finished the 4th draft of my first feature length screenplay and am just starting the process of trying to sell it. The writing part was a long process, but the selling part definitely intimidates me more. You can write the greatest screenplay in the world, but if you can't eventually get it into the hands of someone who could actually do something with it, it will never matter. Plus, the screenplay is in the "epic scifi" genre, so options/chances for selling it are sliced down even further than they already were. But, I really love the script, and am going to do the best I can to get it out there and sell it regardless of what the chances may be :-) I guess I think of myself more as a director than anything else, but I've also written and edited all of the short films that I've made. In fact, the only scripts I've ever directed are ones that I've written. I used to engage in a lot of other artistic endeavors, like painting, songwriting, poetry, short stories, photography, drawing, etc, but when I found filmmaking, it seemed to be the ultimate synthesis of all of these things, and I have never since had the same level of interest for any of those others, individually, as I have for filmmaking.
