Long-term Mapping

I’ve been mapping out the long‑term structure of my creative cycles, and it’s been interesting to see how the timelines naturally fell into place once I stepped back and looked at the bigger picture.

For anyone else juggling multi‑book arcs, connected series, or long‑form storytelling:

How do you organize your release rhythm so it supports both the work and your creative stamina?

Here’s what my current layout looks like from a process standpoint:

2026 — Cycle One

I structured this year as a continuous creative arc, with each project feeding into the next. It taught me a lot about pacing, momentum, and how to maintain thematic cohesion across several releases.

2027 — Cycle Two

This year is built around a tighter trilogy format. I wanted to experiment with seasonal spacing and see how different intervals affect drafting, revision, and reader engagement.

2028 — A Stand‑Alone Break Project

After two back‑to‑back cycles, I planned a stand‑alone for June 2028 as a creative breather — something tonally different that lets me reset before moving into the next major trilogy.

It’s been fascinating to see how much clarity comes from treating the release calendar like part of the craft itself. The timing shapes the writing just as much as the writing shapes the timing.

I’m curious how others approach this.

Do you plan years ahead?

Do you work cycle‑by‑cycle?

Or do you let each project tell you when it’s ready?
