Alexandre Lyra Leite

Born in Lisbon in 1971. Studied Cinema at ESTC - Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema and Theatre Production and Management at IFICT - Instituto de Formação, Investigação e Criação Teatral, Lisbon. Professor at the Course of Interactive Multimedia Production, IPA - Instituto Superior Autónomo de Estudos Politécnicos, Lisbon and teacher ever since 2006 at ETIC - Escola Técnica de Imagem e Comunicação, Lisbon, at the courses Direction, Video and 2D/3D Animation. In 1991 he founded Inestética companhia teatral, where he develops activity mainly as artistic director, scene director and author. Beyond original texts, he has produced and directed performances based on Franz Kafka, Edgar Allan Poe, Italo Calvino, William Blake, Stalislaw Lem, Roberto Corte, Camilo Castelo Branco, Richard Wagner, Tristan Tzara and Sun Tzu, among others. Was awarded in three editions of the Competition O Teatro da Década (The Decade Theater) organized by CPAI - Clube Português de Artes e Ideias (Portuguese Club of Arts and Ideas) and has taken part in several national and international Theatre festivals. Was grantee from Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (New Scene Directors Program). Directed various publicity spots, videoclips and experimental videos, and has collaborated as a copywriter at IC Design. He regularly orients workshops of theatre formation and cinema/theatre writing.
