Marston's early experience in film came with the independently funded low-budget short The Cluck (1997) during high school, which was followed by a chance encounter with filmmaker Mario Van Peebles, leading to his on-screen debut in Riot (1997). After high school, his U.S. Army military service in South Korea, South Carolina, and Texas further honed Corporal Fobbs’ discipline and work ethic, earning him numerous distinctions.

Marston's work in independent films and theatrical performances is impressive. He played a physician in ER alongside Thandie Newton and appeared in music videos for iconic artists like Prince, Floetry, and Kanye West. His short film Insert Shot won 'Best Film' at the Canon Hollywood 48 Hour 4K Film Challenge in 2014. In 2016, he co-established First Mind Presents, producing short films on YouTube. His commitment to his craft was evident when he filmed a supporting role in Bluest Moon during his post-automobile accident injury rehabilitation in 2016 while still medicating.
