Hi, I am new to Stage 32. I have been an actor for several years on stage and in films. I love the creative process. I am currently writing several scripts hoping to get at least on sold. Any suggestions or helpful advice?
Rene, Get together with other actors, writers, or folks who like reading and have a script reading party giving out roles, multiple or one each depending on number of lines. Feature, take a break half way through. Get input and re-write. Also some books on structure, 'Save The Cat' by Blake Snyder breaks down films and Syd Field's 'The Screenwriter's Workbook'. Not sure if you have screenwriting software, some like Final Draft, other Movie Magic, or free software Celtx. Happy writing! :)
Thank you so much. I've only written a few pages of several different scripts. How do you pick which idea to finish first? Should you go with your passion or what will probably sell?
Passion. You can't try to guess what will sell to those in power. The passion is what you think will sell with the audience. It made me wonder if 'Gone Girl' was pitched 10 years ago how it would have been received...
