Composer for your own project! I just need a chance, give it a listen :)

Hey guys, I'm new around here and all though I'm an experienced composer, I have never actually composed for a movie. I'm really eager to collaborate with filmmakers and get the best out of your video with my sound experience and creativity. I just need a chance :) Check out my works at www.allenconstantine.com/music-portofolio/

Hi Allen, thank you so much for posting, was a pleasure to take a listen to a few of your tracks! I just have a few words of advice, if I may - 1) I was judging all of your tracks through a "Hans-Zimmer" lens. Most of your stuff is your own voice, and did not quite sound like HZ. If anything I heard a bit more JW influence, but the reality is you have your OWN voice, sell yourself on that - THEN let the listener come to their own conclusions. Conversely, if you really wanted to sell yourself as a HZ sound, then post direct track that sounds like HZ, the first track on your playlist did not sound like HZ at all to me. 2) Never allude to working for free right off the bat - your time is worth something, even if it's $100 - you invest a lot in your rig, your time, and yes you are trying to break in, but hold value in what you do - this is a business after all! Talk about money and budgets after the producer/director are interested in your music, sell yourself and your services then. 3) I say this because I know you can do it: While you obviously have great chops, there are a few tracks on there that need a bit better sample programming, its not quite there yet. Compare and take a listen to: https://soundcloud.com/alexander-temple Look forward to hearing more from you!

Hi Allen. Excellent music. I followed you on Soundcloud too. I am thinking about re-orchestrating some of my stage musical (due to launch in Spring 2015) to make it sound more 'epic'. Any tips or suggestions you could make would be most helpful. e.g. which songs would best adapt and into what style etc. http://www.reverbnation.com/playlist/view_playlist/3488910?page_object=a... All the best in your filmscoring quest! Chris

Hi Allen, You have a lot of nice music posted. I would agree that there are one or two tracks that have questionable sound quality and you should remove them or improve them. There are many horror stories about composers in the film business. You might want to keep your ear to the ground to get some idea of what to watch out for. A great way to begin getting experience is to hook up with a team doing 48 Hour film projects. It's voluntary but you will begin to get some cred.
