Introduce Yourself : For anyone who likes to read and build confidence for an aspiring screenwriter. by Russel Thompson JR

Hello everyone. My name is Russ. I recently moved to California a few months ago from Michigan in pursuit of my writing career. My life-long dream is to become a screenwriter. Despite query letters and synopsis, it's been a challenge to get my foot in the door and get my work noticed. I have six completed feature length scripts, but yet to obtain representation. As a screenplay writer, my stories and faith are what drives me everyday and keeps me going. My goal as a writer, as is any artist, is to share my talent with the world. Spark the reader's or viewer's mind, make it feel as though they're playing the lead role. My dream of course is to see my work on the big screen, but a person's opinion about my work is just as vital. This is what builds my confidence and makes me a better writer. Up to this point, my work has yet to be seen. I entered two writing contests and received great feedback, but failed to win the competition itself. This feedback, along with that of friends and family, keeps my writing engine alive. And a person's response after reading one of my scripts, along with faith and the hope that my work will get noticed, is the fuel that keeps it going. I have various genres but feel one of my best is a animated-comedy suitable for all ages. It's called Buggin' Out and it revolves around a rotten, bug-killing boy who magically gets transformed into a stinkbug and comes face to face with the same things he's been killing and torturing for years. I would be happy to send it to anyone who wants to read it. Although I have yet to get payed for any of my writing, someone's feedback is payday in itself.
