Sketch writing for the stage class in LA

Register: http://ioimprov.com/west/classes/electives-workshops/Join Kevin McDonald for his two day “Sketch Comedy Show” workshop. Students will put on a live sketch show under the supervision of Kevin McDonald of the Kids in the Hall, in just two days. They will each bring in one sketch and have a table read with everyone playing parts or listening. After every every scene is read, Kevin and the other students will give notes. When all the scenes are read, everyone will split up and quickly re-write their sketches. There will be notes after each scene is read again and then Kevin will pick 5 to 7 scenes that will be in the show. Groups will be made and everyone who didn’t have a scene picked will be acting in one. Everyone will be in the show! By the second day, the scenes will be rehearsed with Kevin guiding each scene. That night, they will put on a show in front of a real paying audience. Students will have fun and learn about putting on a sketch show by working with an old sketch comedian. Sorry, I mean a professional sketch comedian – Kevin McDonald. Note: Please bring enough copies of your scripts for people to read it. Example: if it is a scene with five parts, bring 6 copies – one for each actor reading a part and one for Kevin.
