Every standup comedian including myself memorizes lines to use on hecklers, because often there is at least one heckler in an audience especially on a Saturday night when people have been imbibing. Saturday is best night of the week because people (there are more of them in the audience) are off from work and usually in a good mood, but you're also more likely to get a heckler. You want to talk about real courage. Try to do a standup routine on a Wednesday night, when the sparse crowd consist mostly of sad people who have nowhere else to be (usually out-of-towners on a business trip), and who are staring down at their drinks with somewhat sad expressions. When you start to bomb on that tiny stage with the microphone, there's no place to run. But back to heckling on a Saturday night. For example, you tell the audience when a heckler is heckling you, "Yeah, I remember when I had my first beer too." There are X-rated lines but I won't mention them here.
