Need agent meeting advice

Last week I attended a commercial agent seminar and yesterday her office called to schedule an appointment with me to discuss representation. I'm excited about getting my first agent meeting! But I'm also nervous. I have no idea what to expect from this meeting. What kinds of questions might she ask me? What questions should I ask her? Will she ask me to perform copy (even though she saw me perform at the seminar)? I would love some guidance from folks who have actually gone through this.

Congrats! and try not to be too nervous. There's no need! First and foremost, don't think of it as an interview where she is the boss. It is a conversation between two people who will try to figure out if they are a good match. Is as much your interview as hers. The meeting is mostly a chance for you to get to know each other as people. As for what she might ask, probably will want to know some general ideas about who you are and your acting history. She may use your resume as a jumping off point. Make sure that you look it over before you go in, so that you can speak thoughtfully about classes you've taken, projects you've done. I would be very surprised if she asked you to do material, especially if she didn't tell you before hand. You should definitely have questions for her. How long has she been with this company? Are there other agents? If so, how do they work together? Would she be your point person? What are her expectations for things like booking out if you are going away on vacation? Will she expect you to get new headshots right away? What is the communication style between her and her current clients? I think the specific questions are less important than the fact that asking them gives you the opportunity to hear her and decide if you like her, if you think this agency can help you. Have a great time.

Nick, thanks so much for your advice. You've made the whole prospect less intimidating. With a little luck, by this time next week I will have an agent!
