by Lajos Egri is one of the best screenwriting books I've read. Wish I read it sooner. I could have used this in my life nine years ago.

Egri's book (his only one) was Preston Sturgess' dramatic bible, so he says in his autobiography. The dude was a tailor - just a tailor! - who simply went to plays and started thinking about they were put together. It's an amazing work!

I highlighted all of the power sentences for further study. My book looks like a coloring book now!
About the author: Lajos wrote his first three-act play at the age of ten. He worked as a newspaper man for twenty-five years. He has directed plays in Hungary and the States. He is an advanced student of biology, biochemistry, and human nature. He is the director of the Egri School of Writing, in NY.
