Introduce Yourself : Hello everyone! by David J. Keogh

David J. Keogh

Hello everyone!

I came into acting quite late having quit the banking industry (stop booing - I can hear you!) - it's a dream come true and I have been luck enough to land a number of great roles on stage and screen already! I love this industry - working on stage and screen is great (albeit both are very different) and I having the time of my life - despite it being very hard work! I have met so many very cool people doing this - and there is nothing more amazing than being surrounded by truly creative people all the time. Like many actors I am still looking for my break through role but I have absolute faith it will come - I've had great feedback so far I think, maybe because I came into it so late, I am just so enthusiastic about everything - I feel like a kid again! It's funny but I have a 4 year old and a 5 year old (both boys) and I learn so much from watching them play - something I forgot to do for 30 years! The most amazing thing I think from changing career is the number of people in my old industry and the new one, queuing up to tell me I will fail! Nothing motivates me more than proving them wrong! Thankfully there are far more supportive people out there who have supported and encouraged me! Welcome everyone - this is a great environment to share things - and if anyone needs an actor - well, here I am! I look forward to working with you at some point! And of course, I am ridiculously excited to be here! David

Excellent attitude man don't let anyone keep you from your dream. I share you mentality of "say I won't I'll laugh when I am" just be cautioned about frenemies are everywhere. Best of luck

Thanks both - I have never been happier! Life is too short for being something you don't want to be and luckily I found out early enough.

David, I retired 11 years ago from broadcasting and now have two agents in Dallas and Austin, Texas. I have landed some small gigs in film and commercial and am having a lot of fun! By the way, I'm only 71 years-young! I keep training and "tuning the instrument."
