Used dramatica software but it wasn't friendly. Currently doing long hand. Please recommend the best software for formatting my manuscript. Thanks

Celtx is easy and free to download and use if you can't afford Final Draft
Kathryn that's great I'm aware of Final Draft. However I avoided it as I assume it a product of dramatica pro
Sonibel you're already saving Me money. This is the network that RB mentioned.
Right you are Jim. Thanks.
Sonibel I signed into celtx, that was s job. Turned me off that I uninstalled the software. Seem they had changes and compatibility issues. It was a merry go round that had me frozen for much too long Took me out for mote bites than I could band aid. Will start with my old tool Hollywood magic and export eventually to the New Final Draft 9. Appreciate you looking out, no regrets.

I keep singing the praises of WriterDuet. It was developed for collaborating but it has such awesome features and is so user-friendly that I've now completely switched from final draft. You can use it for free too. You'll get a few more features if you buy it but it's also a lot cheaper than FD. It was developed by a screenwriter so it has tools that FD hasn't even thought of yet and it's being continually improved. And you can save your script as a Final Draft file if you want to (and pdf etc.) in case you're worried about being on some proprietary platform. Love it!
Celtx and Trilby are two examples of free screenwriting software. It's recommended that you research and try out a few, or look at the workflow and presentation on YouTube. Final Draft is regarded as the most widely used in the industry, but there is no such thing as industry standard, as that would imply there was a governing and accreditation body regarding screenwriting software.

Gee wiz! Dawn and Eion your advice are gifts I never expected today. I'm on to the YouTube presentation as suggested and the overview of Trilby. Boomer I'm copying your confidence.
Good luck with it, Fleurette!
I find Final Draft excellent, tells you when you make a mistake, thinks ahead for dialog and has an automatic spell check. Once you get used to it you can fly through the pages so easily you will, if you are like me, end up with more pages than you should have.
I use Fade In. Nothing noticeable missing from Final Draft, except that for a starting screen writer in much more affordable. I also like their tech support and social media presence.
FadeIn works for me.
