Stage 32 keeps telling me my profile is only 75% complete until I introduce myself, so here is the long over due introduction. I've been on the site for awhile, and have taken advantage of Happy Writers opportunities (19 script requests on 25 pitches is my current batting average), which lead to producers attaching themselves to a drama series that's now in development and has talent attaching themselves. I'm using the site to see if I can find some crew and dept. heads for a comedy pilot I'm shooting in Brooklyn this September (you can find out more about that in the jobs section). I'm from L.A., went to boarding school in San Francisco and currently live in New York with my wife who works wardrobe on Broadway and my two children. My great uncle is Oscar winning director, Victor Fleming (Wizard of Oz), and I had a wonderful mentor in Francis Coppola. I've directed over 30 professional stage productions, had more than a half dozen original plays and musicals produced, wrote a couple dozen movie trailers for Warner Bros., shot a few shorts, wrote and directed a feature, wrote and sold an iPhone app, served as Artistic Director of two different theater companies, and a couple years ago started my transition into creating television. I have had the great privilege of observing Soderbergh, and Spielberg direct. I've received a generous number of theater critics nominations, screenplay contest placements, playwrighting awards, an artist of the year and even a visionary recognition—all while being mistaken for Jack Black most of my adult life. Stage32 asked me to write a guest blog once, but I don't think it was well received—I'm not a great cheerleader. I'm not screaming, "not my tempo!" and throwing chairs either, but being a writer and director requires you demand the absolute best of yourself and you need a very big picture strategy; a commitment to the long game. And now my profile is complete. I'll sleep easy now.
